Battle of the Cities Rules
·         There will be six recognised City teams: Auckland City, Hamilton City, North Shore City,
Manukau/Papakura City, Waikato BOP “City” and Waitakere City”
·         No restriction on number of athletes per event.
·         All athletes will compete in their club uniforms.
·         Unregistered secondary school athletes may compete in uniforms of their schools, but do not count
for points. Only registered athletes can count. No club athlete can compete for his/her school in
preference to their club.
·         No pre-selection is required. Athletes enter on the day at least one hour prior to the event commencing,
at the designated table and paying the $5 per athlete fee. No entries will be allowed at the event.
·         The minimum age to compete in the Battle of the Cities is 12.
·         Each round will be contested over the six ANZ grades M16, W16, M19, W19, SM, and SW.
·         There will be three rounds for throws and horizontal jumps, with the top 8 in each grade having
another 3 rounds if time permits. (This will depend on field sizes; otherwise will use the NTC rule
of a 4th round for the top 8 in each grade.)
.
·         Points will be warded to the City in which the athlete’s club is based for the top 8 placings in each
event for each grade - 10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2.
·         Where more than one division is needed in a track event, an attempt will be made to seed athletes according to ability. Points will be awarded to top 8 times.
·         Athletes may enter only one grade per event but can enter different grades in different events.
A cup has been presented by city Mayors and will be known as the Battle of the Cities Athletics Cup.
It will be displayed at each meet and will be presented to the winning city at the end of the series.
