Each season the Wellington Centre selects and sends a team to the National Interprovincial Athletics teams event held at Easter around the country. 

The 2010 event was held in Invercargill over Easter weekend, Wellington came third in an event marked by very wet conditions on the Saturday.

Following is a table of performance targets athletes need to be able to meet to gain selection for the team; results from all formal competition during the season will be used in selecting the team. 

Performances achieved for each event earn points in a similar manner to a decathlon, the following table indicates the performances that will return the target points tally we are looking for from the team.

Average required for selection targets for 12/13 grade Interprovincial team

12 Boys target total points = 2600 ie 650 per event
13 Boys target total points = 3000 ie 750 per event
12 Girls target total points = 2200  ie 550 per event
13 Girls target total points = 2500  ie 625 per event

Athletes need to compete in at least one event from each discipline, ie Track and Field.
