Sky Sport Announcement

Athletics New Zealand is excited to announce our new partnership with Sky Sport and New Zealand Sport Collective, which brings together 50 sports that will be streamed free for all New Zealanders to watch on the new Sky Sport Next YouTube channel. Some content will also be broadcast on Sky Sport, Sky’s sport streaming service Sky Sport Now, and free-to-air on Prime.

“Athletics has something for everyone and there are an incredible number of talented New Zealand athletes competing across all age groups and events. The upcoming New Zealand summer season is going to be a critical time for many athletes aiming to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, and an exciting time to follow their progress and success” says Pete Pfitzinger, Athletics NZ CEO.

“While we of course encourage supporters to head along to events to cheer on your athletes, it will be great for athletics and sports fans around the country to be able to tune into the action live on this new Sky platform.”

The first athletics event to appear on the new platform will be the NZ Secondary School Athletics Championships in early December, and we will keep you updated as more are confirmed.

Tony Rogers, President NZSSAA says ” In keeping with improving the focus on youth sport, NZ Secondary Schools Athletics Association is delighted to be the partner with our parent body Athletics NZ with this new initiative. We believe this partnership should enable wider engagement in school athletics through increased reach and visibility for all current and potential student-athletes”.
