Valerie Adams continued her undisputed dominance of world
shot put with victory in the final of the world indoor champs in Poland.
Adams was the first thrower in the competition and started
with a modest 20.06 throw, which would have been enough to win the competition.
As it turned out, the two times Olympic champion had
four longer attempts with a best of 20.67 in the fifth round. Adams recorded
20.06, 20.41, foul, 20.10, 20.67, 20.16.
As expected, the closest competitor to the now three times
world indoor champion was German Christina Schwanitz with a toss of 19.94 in
round five. Lijiao Gong from China was a distant third with 19.24.
Valerie Adams record:
2 x Olympic Champion 2008 2012
