Welcome to Athletics Northland 

Welcome to Athletics Northland. Since April 2006 we have had a very enthusiastic committee getting our new centre up and running. All facets and grades - ie - harriers, senior track and field, children’s and masters are competing under the banner of "Athletics Northland". The new all weather track at Kensington Park is complete. This has created interest and growth in athletics in the area, thus very encouraging. We welcome anyone moving or visiting the 'Winterless North' to visit one or more of our many clubs. Northland is now an athletics centre in its own right. Our boundary is from Wellsford north. There are now further opportunities for athletes from our own area to compete in the Cambridge blue colours. We encourage secondary school athletes to join a club.

In Northland Team Sports have a history of many of their elite team athletes joining an athletic club in their local area & using the sport of athletics as a vehicle for development in their chosen sport. We welcome this participation in our sport. There is usually an athletic club not far from where you live. The activities involved in training for athletics - running, jumping & throwing will help you greatly to develop fine all round physical excellence. We have proven specialised coaching available from elite, high performance (International level) to grassroots. On request we can provide opportunities for teachers to 'up skill' their athletics coaching & officiating. We encourage schools to contact us.

Northland has some outstanding athletic talent currently competing overseas on Athletic Scholarships as well as athletes who are competing at top level in New Zealand competition & who are being selected for NZ teams. Northland has a proud tradition in athletics & has produced many fine athletes over the years. We are sure this will continue.
