Camille Buscomb has secured her position in the Athletics New Zealand team for the 2019 Doha IAAF World Championships, after meeting the IAAF entry standard for the 10,000m with a stunning run of 31:33.04 at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational on 02 May.

The time is a new PB for the Melbourne based athlete, who represented New Zealand in the 10,000m at the 2017 London World Championships and Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018.

A new addition to the team is London-based Malcolm Hicks, who ran 2:13:51 in the Dusseldorf Marathon on 28 April to better the IAAF marathon entry standard of 2:16. The event was just the second marathon for the 31 year old, who shifted up to the distance in September last year at the Berlin Marathon.

Hicks joins fellow marathon runner Jake Robertson, who was included in the initial team announcement after bettering the entry standard in Toronto last October.

The qualification period for the 2019 IAAF Doha World Championships is still open and runs until 6 September 2019. The initial Athletics New Zealand team announcement for the 2019 IAAF Doha World Championships is available to view here.
