2018 throws international tour

In conjunction with Athletics NZ HPAD Strategy; we recognise the importance of exposing developing throwers to competitions outside NZ/Australia. As such, we will investigate running a tour between the Commonwealth Games and World Junior Championships in 2018.

Possible venues include USA, Germany, Japan or the UK.

Further details will be released closer to the time.

2018 national throws conference

Following the popularity of the 2015 Throws Conference headlined by Don Babbitt and Koji Murofushi; a sequel will occur late 2018. This is an opportunity to bring international presenters with the aim of furthering the capacity of throws coaches across NZ.

throws event group development

The Throws Event Group will continue to support domestic development opportunities such as;

  1.  Assisting with travel and collaboration for coaches and athletes to work with others around New Zealand.
    Eg. Potential contribution towards an identified young Javelin thrower (and/or their coach) to work with Debbie Strange.
  2. Supporting community events to build the spirit of the event group (such as the “Sola Power” meet in Wellington)

Further detail around these will be released over the coming months.
