Like many young New Zealand athletes, Adrian “Blinks Blincoe” went to the States on an athletic scholarship. Whilst he was a student at Villanova University he won 3 NCAA titles and was a 7 times All American. Currently he is working as an assistant coach at Villanova, helping develop the next generation of Kiwi athletes there. Blincoe is a stalwart of New Zealand athletics and cross country having run at the last 2 Commonwealth Games, the Beijing Olympics and numerous World Cross Country Championships. Prior to Beijing, Adrian ran to the top of the New Zealand rankings, eclipsing Dick Quax’s 31 year old national record by running 13m 10.19s by 2.6 seconds. Adrian qualified for his second Olympics in Barcelona in July last year where he ran 13m18.22s.

Unfortunately due to an ankle injury Adrian has made the tough decision to withdraw from the Olympics on the 19th of July.
