Middle-distance runner Zane Robertson left New Zealand at the age of 17 to compete in his first IAAF World Cross Country in Kenya and opted to return shortly after to live. Such is his commitment; he has immersed himself into training, acclimatizing to the same harsh conditions where many of the world’s best middle and long distance runners are developed in Kenya and Ethiopia. He finished a very strong 14th in the 2013 World Track and Field Championships 5000 metre final and 12th in the 3000m at the World Indoors in Poland earlier this year. Zane will be competing in his first Commonwealth Games and has the 3rd fasted 5000m and 5th fastest 1500m ever run by a New Zealander.
