Editorial Comment

Welcome to the June edition of Athletics in Action.

This issue features action from the recent NZ Secondary Schools Cross Country Champs. There’s an interview with Senior Boys winner Matt Baxter and Senior Girls winner Rosa Flanagan.

Martin Lukes won the recent Athletics New Zealand and Australian 100km Championships. We take a look into his concepts of running ultra-long distances.

The London Olympics start next month – good luck to all involved. Athletics New Zealand’s High Performance team is keeping busy with this and a range of other future-focused projects.

This time around the coaching profile is on Steve Willis, who is the Distance Coach of the NZ Athletics team for the London Olympics.

We also catch up with Kenyan Kip Kemei who has been staying in Wellington and winning half marathons up and down the country.
