Get Set Go: “Active Kiwi Kids: Enjoying Sport and Play Every Day!”

Get Set Go is a new and exciting initiative to help our Kiwi Kids develop the basic skills they need to participate in sport and physical activity.

Get Set Go is based on the successful professional learning programme originally produced by Western Australia’s Edith Cowan University, however it has been revised, restructured and updated by Athletics NZ to better suit the NZ environment.
Get Set Go recognises that children’s choices about participating in physical activity and sport are influenced by their motor skills, cognitive skills, and emotional & social skills; therefore the programme adopts a holistic developmental approach which focuses on all these areas.
While fun games and activities are the key delivery elements of Get Set Go, more importantly the programme provides teachers and coaches with the more crucial content knowledge concerning motor skill development within this broader holistic framework.

Get Set Go has a number of delivery options related to the needs of schools and clubs It has been very well received to date, and is growing throughout NZ. If you would like to know more about having your school or club involved please contact national Programme Manager Karen Laurie at karen@athletics.org.nz
