Welcome to the August edition of Athletics in Action.

This issue features 27-year-old race walker Quentin Rew, who is off to the IAAF World Athletics Champs to compete in the 50km road walk on Saturday 3 September. There will be a total of eight Kiwi athletes competing at the 13th World Championships in Athletics in Daegu.

There is also action from two Athletics New Zealand Championships. The National Cross Country Champs were held last month – check out the interview with senior men’s champ  Matt Smith. There’s also a dual interview with the two senior Road Champs winners: Stephen Lett and Lisa Roberston.

GREAT Training Runs in NZ features "Invercargill’s Sandy Point" written by Lance Smith.  If you'd like to have your favourite training run featured in an upcoming issue please contact the editor at the email address below.

This time round the coaching profile is on Andrew Maclennan from Canterbury.
