Editorial Comment
Welcome to this edition of Athletics in Action.

This edition features action from the NZ Secondary Schools Track and Field Champs in Timaru.

Newly crowned half marathon champ Matt Smith and recently turned race walker Quentin Rew are featured athletes while this issue's coaching profile is on Dave Drummond.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of NZ's first marathon – for more see articles from Lance Smith and David Colquhoun.

I was sorry to hear of the recent passing of Athletics NZ Life Member Norm Coop. An obituary can be found here.

The staff at Athletics New Zealand National Office wish all members and supporters of athletics a very merry Christmas and a successful and healthy New Year. The National Office will be closing for the Christmas break at midday on Tuesday 22 December. The office will reopen on Tuesday 5 January at 8.30am.
