Welcome to this edition of Athletics in Action.

Everyone's buzzing about Kimberley Smith's great performance in the recent IAAF/EDF Energy World Half Marathon Championships. She smashed the New Zealand national record for the 21.1 kilometre distance by 1 minute, recording 1hr 9min 35sec.

This edition features the National Road Relay Championships, the last event on the Winter Calendar. To round up the winter season there's an article that takes a look at the athletes that won Athletics NZ Titles in both Cross Country and Road this season.

Kim Hogarth and Anna Frost are featured athletes, while the Coaching Profile this issue is on Maria Hassan.

We also pay tribute to three people who were very much involved with athletics who have passed away recently.
