Welcome to Athletics Auckland   The Cross Country Season wrapped up with all 5 Grand Prix Races completed. HEB, held at the Pukekohe Showgrounds was a good traditional cross country race with hills and rain to welcome in the winter - great stuff.  Pakuranga & Howick Realty XC provided a beautiful day and some great racing. Congratulations to all you participants out there, keep it up.  The next Grand Prix featuring the Auckland Teams Race was held at the Manukau Sports Bowl (Velodrome) on the 12 June with the rain staying away until the drive home.  Racing for yourself and your club in this event made for exciting racing and good club spirit. Long Bay with its shorter courses blew away afew cobwebs and provided a fantastic opportunity to sharpen up for The Auckland Cross Country Champs back at The Pukekohe Showgrounds on 17/7/10.  And here we are back where we started from.  Actually the weather was pretty much the same as the first race as well.  But we do like to spice things up so you all got to run the course in the opposite direction.  The start had great flow into the course and the finish a much less grueling sprint once through the gate.  Thank you to all those families who attended the Prize Giving at the John Walker Lounge on 25th July.  We were honoured to have Sir Murray Halberg present the prizes and entertain us with his vast knowledge of Cross Country Running.  Now start looking for those Road Racing Shoes!
